The Owen River, originating from the towering slopes of Mount Owen at 1,875 meters, meanders its way through the picturesque terrain for 20 kilometers before converging with the magnificent Buller River, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle just below the Tavern. To the southeast, the imposing Mount Murchison at 1,370 meters stands as a sentinel overlooking the Owen River Tavern and Motel.
